Geotechnical

Gehrig, Inc. laboratory testing has the capabilities to perform standard geotechnical testing under controlled conditions to evaluate standardized test of materials, as well as more advanced, specialized test procedures.

The following geotechnical testing protocols are performed in general accordance with ASTM procedures:

  • Moisture content
  • Dry density
  • Atterberg limits
  • Thermal resistivity
  • Electrical resistivity
  • Multitude of strength tests
  • Total soil suction – WP4-T method and filter paper method
  • Unconfined compression
  • Hydrometers
  • Consolidation
  • Sieve analysis
  • Direct shear

Although geophysical exploration provides a wealth of information of a large coverage, standard geotechnical exploration and testing techniques are beneficial to ground truth the geophysical data and constraining the subsequent geophysical analysis and interpretations.

Standard geotechnical engineering and testing services are also provided for both design and forensic engineering purposes. Geotechnical design projects include both residential and commercial development projects.
